Chesterton 'Scratching Cats' Roller Hockey Club

1.   Name

 

The club will be called Chesterton 'Scratching Cats' Hockey Club (CSCRHC)

2.  Affiliation

 

The Club shall seek affiliation with National Roller Hockey Association (NRHA) and once affiliated follow their rules

 

3.  Aims and Objectives

 

The aims and objectives of the club will be: 

- To provide a fun, safe and constructive training and playing environment

 

- The object of the Club is to provide facilities for and promote participation of the whole community in the sport of Roller Hockey and skating. (as advised by NRHA)

 

- To maximise and coordinate opportunities for all players to fulfill their potential.

 

- To formalise training to conform with national guidelines laid down by the NRHA.

- To offer quality coaching and competitive opportunities in roller hockey.

- To ensure a duty of care to all members of the club.

- To provide all its services in a way that is fair to everyone.

- To ensure that all present and future members receive fair and equal treatment.

 

- To work within our own codes of conduct and those laid down by the NRHA

 4. Membership

Full Membership will run from September 1st to August 31st

Membership should consist of officers and members of the club.

 

All members will be subject to the regulations of the constitution and by joining the club will be deemed to accept these regulations and codes of conduct that the club has adopted.

 

Members will be enrolled in one of the following categories:

 

Player and Parent 

Single Player Membership

 

New players will be allowed to attend 3 sessions before becoming members, the sessions will be chargeable as below. (see 5. below)

5. Membership fees

 

All player members will be asked to register with the NRHA, player registration fees payable to the NRHA will be covered by the membership.

 

Membership fees will be set annually and agreed by the Executive/ Management Committee or determined at the Annual General Meeting.

 

Reduced rates will be offered for half season membership

 

Hall costs will be covered by a per session fee agreed by the Executive/ Management Committee. 

 

6. Officers of the club

 

The officers of the club will be:

Chairman

Secretary

Treasurer

 

Officers will be elected annually at the Annual General Meeting.

 

All officers will retire each year but will be eligible for re-appointment.

7. Committee

 

The club will be managed through the Management Committee consisting of:

Chair, Secretary and Treasurer and two adult members.

 

Only these posts will have the right to vote at meetings of the Management Committee.  

 

A minimum of two officers and one parent member is required to constitute a meeting and make an effective decision.

 

The Management Committee will be convened by the Secretary of the club. Committee meetings will be held at the discretion of the chairman when they consider it necessary, or when disciplinary hearings are required, see below.

The Management Committee will be responsible for adopting new policy, codes of conduct and rules that affect the organisation of the club.

 

The Management Committee will have powers to appoint sub-committees as necessary and appoint advisers to the Management Committee as necessary to fulfill its business.

 

The Management Committee will be responsible for disciplinary hearings of members who infringe the club rules/regulations/constitution.

 

8. Finance

 

The club is a non profit making organisation

All club monies will be banked in an account held in the name of the club.

 

The Club Treasurer will be responsible for the finances of the club.

 

The financial year of the club will end on: August 31st.

 

A statement of annual accounts will be presented by the Treasurer at the Annual General Meeting.

 

Any expenditure must be approved by both the chairman and treasurer

 

All accounts must be kept transparent and available for viewing by any committee member

 

Any cheques drawn against club funds should hold the signatures of at least two members of the management Committee.

 

The income and property of the Club shall be applied solely towards promoting the Club’s objectives as set out herein and no portion thereof shall be paid or transferred, directly or indirectly, to the members of the Club. (as advised by NRHA)

 

9.      Annual General Meetings

 

Notice of the Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be given by the Club Secretary. Not less than 21 clear days’ notice to be given to all members and to be held 1month after August 31st.

 

The AGM will receive a report from officers of the Management Committee and a statement of the accounts.

 

Nominations for officers of the Management Committee will be sent to the Secretary prior to the AGM.

 

Elections of officers are to take place at the AGM.

 

All members have the right to vote at the AGM.

 

The Management Committee has the right to call Extraordinary General Meetings (EGMs) outside the AGM.

 

Procedures for EGMs will be the same as for the AGM.

 

In order to vote Members must be at least 16 on the date of the AGM

 

10.  Discipline and Appeals

 

All complaints regarding the behavior of members should be submitted in writing to the Secretary.

The Management Committee will meet to hear complaints within 14 days of a complaint being lodged.

The committee has the power to take appropriate disciplinary action including the termination of membership

The outcome of a disciplinary hearing should be notified in writing to the person who lodged the complaint and the member against whom the complaint was made within 5 days of the hearing.

 

There will be the right of appeal to the management.

11.  Dissolution

A resolution to dissolve the club can only be passed at an AGM or EGM through a majority vote of the membership.

 

In the event of the dissolution of the Club, any assets remaining after the satisfaction of all debts and liabilities shall not be distributed among the members of the Club, but shall be given or transferred to one or more of the following approved sporting or charitable bodies:

 

- A registered charitable organisation

- Another club that is a registered CASC

- The national governing bodies of the sports for use by them for related community sports (as advised by NRHA)

 

12.  Amendments to the Constitution

 

The constitution will only be changed through agreement by majority vote at an AGM or EGM.

 

13.  Declaration

 

Chesterton 'Scratching Cats' Roller Hockey Club hereby adopts and accepts this constitution as a current operating guide regulating the actions of members.
